This process aims at transforming the structure of a metallic component. The heating under controlled atmosphere (nitrogen-methanol) enables to avoid the oxidation by protecting the piece and therefore to improve its mechanical characteristics (cancellation of superficial decarburization). Another goal is to upgrade the hardness of the pieces. The temperature changes according to the toughness we want to obtain. The components go through this step of high temperature heating before being plunged in a bath of oil to be cooled down. Afterwards, the parts go into the “washing machine”. Gillet Group has also got a shot blasting machine to improve the aspect of the parts and to remove the impurities.
